The Mentoring Network

Join the mentoring network if you are serious about quality in ETD

Terms of Agreement

INTRODUCTION

I am sure that you, like us, are frustrated and rather tired of quality assurance bodies and training providers who are not serious about making a positive difference to the development of people in South Africa. I often come across people in senior and influential positions in the ETD environment who do not carry the interests of communities and the learners in those communities in their hearts and we should do something about this.

We are establishing The Mentoring Network in the hope that together, we will be able to be THE DIFFERENCE MAKER in the ETD Sector. You are invited to join us if you meet the following criteria:

  • You are serious about protecting and promoting the interests of learners.
  • You are serious about acting with integrity.
  • You are serious about promoting the objectives of the NSDS III.
  • You have a sincere desire to add value to places of work through learning.
  • You have a sincere desire to provide people with knowledge and skills that will help them to find jobs.

PURPOSE

The purposes of the Mentoring Network are:

  • to establish cooperation between stakeholders, in order to improve the quality of learning offered to learners,
  • to empower and capacitate private and public learning institutions in order to offer best practice in education, training and development,
  • to develop a network of high performers in the field of education, training and development, and
  • to establish a fair and objective quality assurance system, in terms of both compliance and performance criteria, on all levels of the NQF.

Membership is open to any learning institution, quality assurance body, professional body or consultancy firm involved in ETD or HRD that meets the quality criteria mentioned above. The Mentoring Network is established with the intention of making a positive contribution towards the achievement of national skills development and work creation objectives. It is not our intention to oppose government initiatives, but rather to support them. With this in mind, the government requirements in terms of The NQF Act, No. 67 of 2008, The Skills Development Act, No. 97 of 1998, The Skills Development Amendment Act, No. 37 of 2008, The Higher Education Act, No. 101 of 1997, The Higher Education Amendment Act, No. 39 of 2008, The General and Further Education and Training Quality Assurance Amendment Act, No. 58 of 2001, The General and Further Education and The Training Quality Assurance Amendment Act, No. 50 of 2008, are respected.
